The FBE and the Belmont Savings Bank Foundation are thrilled to announce the
2020 & 2021 Outstanding Teacher Awards (OTA) Honorees
In our world turned upside down by pandemic, the FBE and the Belmont Savings Bank Foundation honor the ENTIRE STAFF of the Belmont Public Schools as Outstanding Teachers and Staff for 2020 and 2021.
On May 4 and 5, to celebrate the Outstanding Staff, each school was presented with a large poster of this image composed of words of gratitude solicited from the entire community. The request for words of appreciation yielded over 600 words from nearly 200 responses!
Additionally, each staff member received a small version of this image along with a gift card to a local Belmont small business as a token of appreciation for creatively and tirelessly supporting our students and each other throughout this challenging time.
Historically, this week’s announcement of OTA honorees would be followed by an in-person ceremony with presentations and speeches from special guests. While we cannot meet to celebrate together, a few of our honored guest speakers have shared messages:
“Just over one year ago, our community was turned upside down as COVID-19 altered virtually every aspect of our lives. One of the greatest challenges brought on by this public health crisis has been its impact on our students, their families and our schools. Belmont students would not be able to make it through the 2020/21 school year without the hard work, dedication, and sacrifices of those who work in our schools. It is only fitting that this year’s Outstanding Teacher Award be given to everyone at Belmont Public Schools for their tireless work to get our students through this pandemic. To all those at BPS, thank you!”
State Representative, Dave Rogers
“In every year we feel deep gratitude for the work that teachers do for our children and for the community. In this year, with all its controversy and difficulty, we are especially grateful and especially eager to recognize our teachers’ special contributions.”
State Senator, Will Brownsberger
“We thank the FBE for recognizing and honoring all our educators and staff this year in the BPS Staff and Teacher Appreciation 2021 program. The School Department agrees that everyone at BPS is deserving of praise for their continued dedication and support of our students during this extraordinary year.”
Belmont Public Schools Superintendent, John Phelan
The Foundation for Belmont Education appreciates the support of the Belmont Savings Bank Foundation for making this celebration of outstanding staff possible.
Thank you! Congratulations Outstanding Staff of the Belmont Public Schools 2020 & 2021!
