Foundation for Belmont Education Announces New Board Members
The Foundation for Belmont Education (FBE) is pleased to announce the appointment of nine members of the Belmont community to serve terms on the FBE’s Board of Directors.
Lauren Capitani has lived in Belmont since 2015 and has three daughters at Chenery and Wellington. Prior to moving to Belmont, Lauren lived and worked in Chicago, San Francisco, New York, and most recently, Santa Fe. Currently, Lauren interviews for Georgetown University, co-chaired Wellington’s 2017 4th grade send off, and helped with the FBE annual fundraiser. She is a TA for Stanford GSB’s LEAD program, a grad-level design-thinking certification, and works at the Park School in Brookline. Lauren has worked in marketing, strategic consulting, and elementary education, both as a teacher and in curriculum development. She holds a BA from Georgetown, an MSJ from Northwestern, an MBA from Stanford, and a CLAD K-5 Teaching Credential from Cal State East Bay.
Melissa Nott Davis
Melissa Nott Davis is an attorney focused on commercial and intellectual property litigation at White and Williams LLP. She has lived in Belmont with her family since 2013 and, as of Fall 2018, will have two children at Wellington Elementary. Melissa is the co-chair of Northwestern University’s Leadership Council for the Boston region and a member of the Medical Legal Partnership Boston Advisory Board of Directors. Melissa has volunteered at the FBE Annual Fundraiser and the Spelling Bee. Melissa received her BA in History from Northwestern University, her Juris Doctorate from Boston University and a Master of Liberal Arts in Management from the Harvard University Extension School.
Allison Goodwin moved to Belmont in 2003 and has daughters at Chenery Middle School and Wellington Elementary. She has been a member of the Wellington PTO Executive Board as Co-VP of After School Enrichment, is an active member of the Wellington School community, and is a Girl Scout leader for two Belmont troops. Allison is the Director of Finance for Torrington Properties and serves as a Corporator for Cambridge Savings Bank. She previously was a Director in Corporate Banking at Bank of America. Allison is a graduate of Harvard College.
Lyn Hamer has lived in Belmont since 2005 and has three children at Chenery Middle School and Belmont High School. Over the years, Lyn has volunteered for the FBE’s Spelling Bee and the Dan Scharfman Memorial Run, and the Wellington and Chenery PTOs (Chenery PTO Secretary for 2-3 years, as well as design work). Lyn is a graduate of The Glasgow School of Art (Scotland). Before moving to Belmont, Lyn worked full time in a London graphic design studio. Currently, she has her own graphic design business.
Claire Kinzler is a Concord native who has lived in Belmont since 2010 with her husband and three children. Claire works as an Account Director for Forrester Research in Cambridge, working with her clients to transform in a rapidly changing consumer market. Prior to Forrester, Claire led multiple sales teams in the corporate and experiential events industry for 13 years. Claire most recently volunteered for the FBE’s Annual Fundraiser.
Jen Manganaro has lived in Belmont since 2012. While taking time off from a successful real estate career to raise her family, Jen has recently returned to the working world as a health and wellness educator for Young Living. She has two sons who attend Wellington Elementary School, and a daughter at Chenery Middle School. Jen has frequently volunteered in the Wellington community, as Enrichment Coordinator, Hospitality Coordinator, and Wellington Carnival Bake Sale Coordinator. Jen has volunteered with the FBE for the past three years, helping to coordinate the Spring Fundraiser catering, music, and solicitations.
Christina Ramey has lived in Belmont since 2006. Her three children have attended Burbank Elementary School, Chenery Middle School, and Belmont High School. Christina was previously a member of the FBE Board of Directors from 2007 – 2013. During that time, she served in various roles as Bee Keeper of the Annual Spelling Bee, English Language Arts liaison for the Program Committee, and as the in-kind donation coordinator for the Inaugural Dan Scharfman Memorial Run. Christina has been a member of the Belmont Youth Lacrosse Board of Directors since 2013 and served on the Burbank School Advisory Council. Christina volunteers for the Belmont High School PTSO and is a member of the Belmont Boosters. A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Christina earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Northeastern University in 1993 and an MBA in 2010 from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.
Emily Running is a strategic, multidisciplinary designer and art director. Currently, she works within the creative agency of Aetna as a Senior Digital Designer. Emily has two sons at Wellington Elementary School. In her spare time, she loves playing tennis, hiking, riding her bike, traveling and is a foodie when she can be. She hails from the midwest and has gone on to live in the some of the greatest cities around the world (San Francisco, New York, Paris, Luzern Switzerland) and now calls Belmont home.
Sara Townsend grew up in Toronto, Canada, moved to the US in 1993, and has lived in Belmont with her family since 2011. Her three children attend the Belmont Public Schools; two at Chenery Middle School and her youngest at Wellington Elementary School. She has volunteered at Wellington as room parent, library helper, green team member, and landscape chairperson. Before staying home full-time with her children, she worked at Horticulture Magazine as an editor, at MassHort as a programs coordinator, and at Winston Flowers as a container designer. She received her B.A. in biology at Hamilton College in upstate New York.
